GENERAL PURPOSE RATING

The Course

GP Rating means General purpose Rating. GP Rating candidates are those who have been trained in both Deck and Engine Room tasks. Such ratings may be employed either in deck department or Engine department according to the needs of the company. They perform tasks related to Seamanship, Cargo handling, Maintenance work on deck, Operation and maintenance of Machinery. This Course ensured higher employability of the Indian seafarers in world market.

ELIGIBILITY:

Xth Std. Pass from Govt. recognised board with subjects English, Mathematics & Science with 40% aggregate, English 40% in Xth / XIIth.

(Or)

XIIth Std. (any stream) Govt. recognised board with 40% aggregate. English 40% in Xth / XIIth but with subjects English, Mathematics & Science at Xth Std.

(Or)

Pass in 2 year ITI Course (Fitter / Machinist / Mechanic / Welder / Turner) approved by DVET / NCVT with minimum 40% aggregate marks in final year of ITI & minimum 40% in English in 10th / 12th.

AGE LIMIT:

Minimum 17.5 years of age and maximum 25 years of age as on the date of commencement of course.

MEDICAL STANDARDS:

Physically fit and should meet the medical requirements as specified by DGS guidelines, eyesight 6/6 in each eye without visual aids. No colour blindness.

CAREER PATH

10th Standard 40% aggregate and minimum 40 marks in English OR I.T.I all Trade pass, Age: Between 17.5 to 25 yrs. Application Interview Selection Medical / Eyesight

Complete 6 months Pre Sea Study Program in our academy. Obtain Standard Training, Certificate of Watch keeping Mandatory (STCW) course certificates & Indian Continuous Discharge Certificate (CDC).

12 months Sail as Deck (crew) or Engine (crew) (Stipend 200 to 300 $ U.S per month).

Obtain watch keeping certificate issued by D.G Shipping, on successful completion of 12 months training onboard from Mercantile Marine Department.

Sail as motorman or Able seaman for another 12 months(Salary U.S. $ 1100/- to U. S. $ 1400/- per Month).

After total sea time of 36 months appear NCV 2nd mate (DECK)/ appear for class 4 Near Costal Voyage exams (Engine).

On obtaining NCV 2nd mate you can sail as 2nd mate in near coastal voyage / on obtaining class 4 NCV certificate can sail as 4th engineer in near coastal voyage

Can Rise up to the rank of Master Mariner / Marine Engineer.

QUALIFICATION
(a) Pass with aggregate 40% marks in 10th standard with science, Mathematics as subjects.
(b) The candidates must have secured minimum 40% marks in English in 10th standard exams.

OR

(a) Pass in 2-Year I.T.I course from Govt. Approved institute with minimum 50% aggregate marks in final year.
(b) The candidates must have secured minimum 40% marks in English in 10th standard exams.

OR

(a) Diploma or degree holders.
(b) Pass with aggregate 40% marks in 10th Standard with Science, Mathematics as subjects.
(c) The candidates must have secured minimum 40% marks in English in 10th standard exams.
NOTE:
1. The candidate must have passed the 10th standard from a recognized board.
2. The diploma or degree must be recognized by any State or Central Government or the AICTE. The maximum age limit for candidates belonging to “Scheduled Caste” (SC) / “scheduled Tribe” (ST) Category shall be relaxed by 5years.
